The Maynard Jackson Youth Foundation has been in existence for nearly three decades and has successfully produced twenty-seven classes and counting of future leaders. We think of our teachers, volunteers, and donors as much than a helping hand, but as family. This also goes for our founder and our MJYF staff that keep Maynard’s legacy alive and help guide and shape the minds of our current students and future leaders on a day-to-day basis.
MJYF understands that a more caring world is a better world. We empower our future leaders to keep in mind that every individual is deserving of kindness and love. By instilling this in our youth we ensure that our future generations that follow them will grow up in a world that is well taken care of and in communities that not only watch over each other, but thrive.
Who we surround ourselves with says leaps and bounds about who we are as people. Because of this, we aim to build positive networks and communities for our students. By surrounding ourselves with like-minded individuals who are also on the path striving for higher education and a bright future we ensure our students a healthy environment to reach their goals. By building this powerful network we have allowed all who come through our doors a wide net of individuals to assist them with their future endeavors.
Contributions. Whether they be time or monetary allow MJYF to continue molding and educating the next generation’s leaders. Our students understand that contributing to your community and education is a life changing and life-long act that has a ripple affect. There are no bounds to the benefits of giving.
MJYF understands that our students will have to work hard for everything they want in life, so we do our best to provide them with skills that will make them stand out on both paper and in person. By educating our students with workshops, community service events and historical-focused trips, we set them up for success in the future.
Character involves daily commitment and integrity. We instill the fundamentals of what it means to live a life filled with dignity and doing the right thing in those hard moments. We teach students that their character is at the very center of who they are as an individual and that the decisions they make affect not only them, but the world we all live in.
When you go confidently in the direction of your dreams, there is nothing that will stop you from achieving them. We instill this confidence in our students by nurturing their passions and empowering them to go after them. By introducing industry experts, leaders within the community and career veterans, we’re able to provide students with real-life insight and experience. With positive reinforcement there is nothing our students cannot achieve.
